Food at this diner was good -- it was on par with other diners. The thing that stood out was how accommodating the staff was to my grandfather. He has a walker and the staff was quick to put a table together that had seats instead of a booth, safely tucked away his walker and made sure he was able to enter and exit safely. The server was very nice, joking with us throughout. Overall a great experience for this NJ diner.
When we were leaving, we mentioned our experience to the manager and she said, “She took the drink off.” (True. I changed my mind after the server told me she was going to make it after I reminded her when we got our food.) The manager then said, “Well, did you eat your food?” My partner admitted to eating his; I said that I had a piece of (soggy) toast from my plate while being ignored by our server. The manager snapped, “What do you want me to do, then?”
We were seated and had our orders taken promptly. We didn’t see our server again until she brought our food, probably because she was very busy flirting with the table of basketball players half her age. She didn’t bring my drink, then chastised me for not reminding her when I asked her about it when she dropped our food.
We enjoyed Arlington Diner until our visit this morning. It soured us enough that we do not intend to return.

Our food was cold and had obviously been forgotten behind the counter. My toast was literally damp. She made a point not to make eye contact with or check on us until she noticed my partner’s plate was empty. Given her response to the drink, we asked for a check and left my almost-full plate on the table.
Very slow service for a diner! Bland food, just a terrible experience. Long waits for everything!!!!

We paid our bill and left. Needless to say, this formerly lovely place has been crossed off of our list of diners.

Favorite local diner! Great strong coffee. Also quick to be seated. Food is always pretty good with decent prices. Wait staff is usually very good but it varies which is expected at a diner. Plenty of parking in two lots. Love the diner look and not overly modern restaurant look. Recommended highly!
I previously reviewed the Arlington Diner positively, my partner shares why that changed.
